The gym in our school recently felt a little different as our 6th graders transformed the room into a “Living Wax Museum.” The students were busy reading a biography, compiling research, writing, and rehearsing. The students were eager and brought famous figures to life for classmates, staff, and families.
Each student selected a notable person from history, literature, science, the arts, and the crowd favorite, entertainment! From civil rights leaders and inventors to athletes and authors, the gymnasium was filled with “wax figures.” Visitors walked around the gym, and each figure came to life to share a short first-person speech about their achievements, family, and impact on the world.
The project gave students the opportunity to strengthen their research and writing skills while also practicing public speaking and presentation techniques. They worked hard to create engaging scripts and even dress the part. Many commented on how impressive it was to see the students speak so confidently and knowledgeably.
The Living Wax Museum was not only educational but also inspiring. It was clear that our 6th graders gained a deeper understanding of the individuals they portrayed—and of the power one person can have to make a difference. We are incredibly proud of their creativity and effort for the 6th Grade Annual “Living Wax Museum.”
